Empowering the next generation of STEM professionals
Girls in STEM is a series of educational programs throughout the year that encourages interest in science and engineering among female students in grades 4-8.
Launched in 2013, the program offers a supportive and collaborative environment for girls to engage with each other while working on activities and projects that introduce them to STEM concepts such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Girls in STEM also partners with companies and mentors to speak with students about opportunities in STEM and as a future profession.
Adventures In AI
June 22 & 29 | 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. | Grades 4-8
Artificial intelligence seems to be everywhere—and it’s an impressive new tool to learn! At Girls in STEM’s June events, Adventures in AI, participants will explore the power behind this new technology through engaging activities on and offline, and like-minded peer connections. Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to explore machine learning by working with an AI tool to recognize human emotion, explore the building blocks of coding while learning what responsible AI looks like and get in touch with their creativity by integrating AI with art! By the end of the day, participants will leave with a newfound understanding of how coding contributes to artificial intelligence.
Lunch will be provided.

Become a Mentor!
STEM Mentors impact the lives of Participants in a variety of ways, including helping with challenges, engaging the Participants in different projects, and, most importantly, a chance to mentor and inspire young girls* to consider exciting careers in STEM. We are in need of both English- and Spanish-speaking STEM Mentors.

Inclusivity at Arizona Science Center
Our Girls in STEM program is open to anyone who identifies as female regardless of their assignment at birth. Our program is also open to those who identify as non-binary and, although the focus is on girls, all students are invited to attend regardless of gender identity.
At-Home Science Lab
Try these fun STEM activities that are all about snow. All projects use easy-to-find materials and most take an hour or less to complete.
Studies show that girls are more engaged in learning when the content presented is both tactile and closely tied to solving a real-world problem or challenge.
Change the Future of STEM
Involving young girls in STEM activities is crucial to boosting their confidence and expanding their experience in science, technology, engineering and math. To learn more about Girls in STEM, email girlsinstem@azscience.org or call 602.716.2000 ext. 207.
